The Talent

Perry.
I am 22 years old and the singer and guitarist in Perry and the travellers.

Music has been a big part of my life since early childhood.
I was early introduced to my parents record collection with bands like
Nazareth, ACDC, Led Zeppelin, Deep purple and so on.
It was first when I was 7 or 8 when I asked my father
to show me some chords on his old country western guitar, and from that day on I had trouble putting it down.
After moving allot back and forth between Sweden and Australia we decided to stay in a place called Hammarö, in Sweden.
That’s where I first found people who shared my passion.

At this time I was in my early teen’s and was still completely sold on 60´s and 70´s style of music. My first band was called Resistance, we did a hand full of shows, recorded a few demos and played together for a couple of years. Later we split up because of differences in taste of music. This was something that came to repeat it self later on in other constellations. I found it rear for other 14-15 year old guys wanting to play good old rock n´ roll. I played in a few other band’s with no bigger success.

When I got to the age of 16-17 I began to discover music that I felt stronger for than anything before. Southern Rock. The band that opened the door was of course Lynyrd skynyrd, from there I went on to all the other great ones! Then and there I knew that this is what I wanted to do and was best at. There for Perry and the Travellers was created.
We have been going strong since we began and wont stop until we have achieved our goal!

On my tenth birthday I received my first guitars from my stepfather; An old nylon 6string which I still have and a red SG formed electric, just like Angus Young. I didn’t know how to play, but I played anyway. A round the same time I also got my first CD the ACDC album High Voltage, witch set a Rock N Roll scar in my heart.

I made a habit of starting up bands here and there. I knew no cords but I made songs, came up with cool band names and draw my own logos.

In the early nineties like many others I became a huge Guns and Roses fan and Slash became an idol and the band that sailed close by was Nirvana. I started to miss football practice and started to spend more and more time in the rehearsal-studio. The musical inspirations whirled around back and forth like crazy. The diversity can be explained by stating that I listened to bands like Jackson five and Danzig side by side.

In my fifteens-sixteen’s I swirled into the local Hardcore/punk scene in which Perry and the travellers bassist Tim was a central figure. I started a band called "Cosaine" eventually the Hardcore turned back into what we started off with, rock that is. With new influences like "Helicopters" and "Turbonegro" the band "The Goonies" in which I was the songwriter and lead singer/guitarist was born. The blend of punk/rock became the new style, We played some local joints around adjacent towns. Eventually that period also came to an end.

The next project I jumped into was as a bass player in a band called The Denimsnakes. Me, my friend Claes and his little brother Perry who I didn’t knew that well at the time. The music was a mix between punk/rock from me and Claes together with Perry’s more country/southern rock influences. Somewhere down the line Claes left the band and remaining parts of me and Perry became the foundation on which we have built this band.

I'm Snake, and I play what ever they tell me to play.

I started taking piano lessons when I was 6 years old, when I was 27 years old I learned how to play.

I’ve been around music all my life and my whole family play music. My dad play’s piano, fiddle and some guitar. Mom also plays the fiddle and key-harp. They recently started playing trumpet and flute. But enough of them, back to me

I kept on playing the piano and tried the fiddle for a while, but didn’t think it was that cool. It didn’t fit in to the Michael Jackson ”Dangerous sound” that I was listening to at the time.

I started playing keyboard in a band at 11 and did so until I was almost 16 years old. After this I didn’t touch a keyboard or piano until I started playing with the travellers in early 2008. I started to play guitar instead and I found the treasure of southern tunes from Skynyrd, Outlaws, Marshall Tucker Band , etc. This is still were I find my inspiration.

After this I started playing slide guitar, mandolin and since I’ve been playing with the guys I’ve also started playing the harmonica and lap steel, and some how I ended up with a fiddle again but this time I think I can make it sound cool…

Dave.

When I was so young I couldn’t even walk yet, I stood holding the living room table jumping up and down every time my Dad put Beach Boys on the Stereo. And I remember being so scared by the tiger inside the record Thriller( it’s a baby) but loved the Music. I guess my sister, who played it for me, were amused by my dancing. Anyway... what I’m trying to say is that music is a natural part of me and maybe everybody.

My Dad bought me a keyboard when I was 10 and put me in a class. But the teacher was blind and old and smelled. I knew I wanted to play the drums (like 10 times more cool when you’re in that age).´so after about 2 years of nagging, and taking drum lessons, my Dad bought me a drum kit.
But it wasn’t until I started playing with some friends I really got serious and started dreaming about conquering the World. I was a Punk/Hardcore-fan

At age 17 I joined a Rock & Roll band, inspired by the 70s scene. Ben Dovers did a couple of shows and recorded some Demos.
Listening to it today I still like some of the songs. But after that I didn’t play any drums. No band so I learned some guitar because I’ve always loved singing and wouldn’t give up my love for playing music.

I never had Idols but a lot of bands and musicians I wanted to be like. I see myself up there but aware it’s a long way to the top if you want to rock & roll.
Rock from the 60s and 70s is closest to my heart but I get inspired by all sorts of music. I need and breed music!

Ever since i was born music has been a big part of my life. My father began playing in bands when he was a teenager in the sixties. Therefore we listened lot to music from that era when i grew up. The Beatles, Rolling Stones, The Byrds, Joe Cocker, to name a few.

I started playing guitar when I was about 8 years old, but it wasn’t until I started my first band at age thirteen that I really got serious with my music. Me and some friends from school, David from Perry and the travellers among others, started a punk/hardcore band. At this point we played mostly local gigs.

I studied at a music program in the gymnasium (the Swedish version of high school) playing lots of jazz, funk and that kind of music. It didn’t really hit me that hard and i found out that I was, and still am, a rock and roll guy. At age 17 a joined a hard rock band called Convinced with some older guys and went on my first tour. We played 13 shows in England, and from that point touring is the best thing I know. We did yet another European tour with Convinced, and I also played some shows outside of Sweden with other bands.

At age 20 I moved to Sweden’s second biggest city, Gothenburg, and joined a band called When we fall. We released two CD´s, and was on a couple of compilation-CD´s with other bands. The band reached some kind of success in the punk community and played over a hundred shows all over Europe. During this time I was also a stand in member in a couple of other bands and did a lot of gigs over the years. I’ve done gigs in 13 different countries, from tiny clubs to huge festivals, but never made to the United States so therefore i really hope that Perry and the travellers will be my first band to come abroad.
